I killed my MAC love to a huge extent and my purse refuses to stay in my bag nowadays. And the S.A at the counter was knowledgeable and persistent and friendly so you get the rest of the story. I brought home my first YSL lipstick no.16 Orange Impertinent which I’m going to review and swatch today. And omg I am so much in love!! MAC’s Matte formula is one of my all-time favorite formulas in lipsticks because it is creamy, comfortable, and lasts a long time and looks REALLY FLATTERING (given that you have exfoliated and moisturized religiously) on.

Starting with MAC Persistence, I almost skipped this shade because it was said to be similar to MAC Whirl, but I love medium browns, so I sprung for it anyway, and I sure am glad I did so! I love this beautiful shade! Adobe reader macbook pro retina. As for being similar to MAC Whirl, It’s similar but not exactly because Whirl has more pink in it. Let’s take a look at Persistence, and then I’ll show you a little comparison next to MAC Whirl.
And, here is the little comparison:

Next, we have MAC Tropic Tonic, a lovely medium coral. This shade for me is a “perk my face up” shade. Like, for example, when I know I’m going to be wearing my glasses or sunglasses, this shade is a must! I loved that MAC added this shade because they do have a lot of deeper matte oranges and corals, and this one is a nice staple to have.
MAC Studded Kiss was previously released with the Punk Couture Collection, and although it was LIMITED EDITION, I did not rush to get it, and I sure am glad I didn’t (even though it really attracted me!) because now it is PERMANENT! And, this shade is such a stunning deep red. It is definitely a must have! I found that it looked really similar to MAC Hearts Aflame (from the Novel Romance Collection), so if you missed that, then grab this one instead!

MAC Antique Velvet, another new shade, is a deep brown beauty! This one is a beautiful shade, as well, and I was really eager to add it to my collection!
MAC Instigator, also previously released with the Punk Couture Collection along with Studded Kiss, is back again and PERMANENT. This shade is a deep and dark purple, but it was definitely patchy, sadly. I guess a lip pencil would fix that issue. Pretty shade, though!
And, last but not least, MAC Stone, another lipstick that was inspired by a lip pencil (like Whirl), and is quite a gorgeous grey-cast brown shade. So much so, that I can’t seem to stop wearing it, even though, I expected it not to be my type.
Overall, these wear really well and comfortably and will always be one of my favorite formulas of lipstick. There’s nothing like that sweet vanilla scent and that black cardboard box with black tissue paper at your front door.

Truth: MAC Cosmetics make some of the best lipsticks in the market. I’m ashamed (or proud?) to say I’ve collected over 20 so far, and I always have at least one on my makeup wish list at any given time. What makes them so amazing? Firstly, they have almost any shade a lipstick lover could possibly want; and they have it in a variety of finishes. Although I have a healthy assortment when it comes to the colour spectrum, my favourites – and the ones I reach for the most – are all neutral shades. Will I ever get over warm nudes? Probably not, so I thought I would share my top 5!
Lipsticks are lined up from 1 to 5, left to right.
1. Velvet Teddy
Of course I had to start my list of with arguably one of MAC’s most popular nude lipsticks of all time! Even though it’s been well over a year since the Kylie Jenner hype begun (along with the obsession with her lips), I think it’s safe to say Velvet Teddy is more often than not usually sold out at the counters. It’s described as a ‘deep-toned beige’ with a matte finish, with a rosy warm undertone. It’s one of those shades that looks so different on everybody; on me it definitely pulls rosy-beige. It’s one of the most comfortable matte lipsticks I own as it’s very creamy, comfortable and non-drying on the lips. If you’re looking for a new nude, you can’t go wrong with Velvet Teddy. It’s a crowd pleaser.
2. Spirit
I go through phases where I’m 100% certain Velvet Teddy is my favourite nude, but as soon as I use Spirit again, I’m not so sure. Spirit is definitely Velvet Teddy’s sister, just a smidgen browner, and a satin finish as opposed to matte. It’s described as a pinky-beige brown, which is spot on. Oddly enough, even though this is a satin finish I do find it less creamy than Velvet Teddy, but comfortable to wear all the same. When I want a nude that pulls more brown than pink, this is my pick. It’s a great one for day and night – it just goes with any makeup look!
3. Taupe
I don’t reach for this one anywhere near enough and every time I do, I kick myself because it’s so damn beautiful. MAC describes it as a reddish taupe brown, and it is a matte finish. I love Taupe for its uniqueness – I can’t say I’ve seen many lipsticks similar to this shade around. It’s one that many skin tones can work with, from fair through to dark, and it makes for the perfect Autumnal lipstick.
4. Persistence
Even I will admit it’s not too different to Taupe on the lips, except I find it has a little less of a red undertone and it’s a little bit more orange (although it photographed super brown on my arm for some reason!). Persistence is described as a peachy cinnamon with a matte finish. It’s very pigmented and glides onto the lips with a lot of ease. I think it’s a really different neutral and one that can be worn all year around.
5. Twig
Persistence Mac Swatch Blush
Described as a soft muted brown pink with a satin finish, Twig is the perfect MLBB shade. It’s a great everyday colour (very long lasting!) and one of my favourite transitional shades.
If you have a medium skin tone like me, these will be perfect for you. Now you tell me – what are your favourite MAC neutrals?
